Directors

Director roles are typically selected by our Executive Director and involved a 2 year commitment. Directors serve as voting members of the board of directors for the state council and work with SHRM and our local chapters to provide awesome experiences for members and further the efforts to elevate HR within the business community.

Time commitments vary but generally require a minimum of 10 hours per month. These positions are the most visible, but also require the most work. They are typically a good fit for those who have support from their employers and professionals with strong business acumen. Leadership skills are also a big component, as each director oversees and directs their respective volunteer committee.

Committee Members

Committees are an excellent way to support a specific core leadership area or initiative of the state council. For example, if you are hyper-passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, you may love working with the DEIB committee in order to further the specific projects related to this focus area.

Committees are also terrific for aspiring professionals or those who can’t make a larger time commitment as a director, but still want the benefits of networking and getting involved with the vibrant community of HR pros within the state of Utah.

Time commitments will vary but typically require less than 5 hours per month. Committee members ebb and flow with the needs of the state council but typically include a minimum one year term.

Volunteers

Sometimes you want to help but can’t commit to a major role like a director, or the focus of a committee member. We still have a place for you!

Often, we need ad-hoc volunteers who can support individual projects or events. This might include helping at registration desks, conducting surveys, mailing flyers or anything else that needs friendly, welcoming humans to support our volunteers and elevate the HR profession within the business community.

You can find open volunteer roles at the state level on our volunteers page at the link above. Simply respond to the projects you’re available for and interested in and our Volunteer Director will work with you on the details. Easy peasy.

Chapter Volunteer Opportunities

Many of the same positions at the state level exist at the chapter level as well. There is no greater way to get involved then at the local level where you can meet with and network with professionals just like you!
